Angel Swamp

Angel Swamp is a wetland in the Northwest corner of the camp, east of the powerline fence.  Although one would typically expect to find wetlands in the lowest pockets of a region, this wetland sits ABOVE the Lake Linnea valley.  Angel Swamp is on a broad plateau 1190 feet above sea level.  In comparison, the surface of Lake Linnea is at about 1155; the lower lake 1080.

The wettest heart of Angel Swamp is at the distinct boundary between forested canopy and meadow.

Why is it called Angel Swamp? Someday the answers may be found.
