Cook's Cabin
Picture
Back when Garfield Hall was the resident camp dining hall, the camp cook stayed in the little cabin between Garfield and the Oxbow. Hence the name. When the dining hall was moved up to Gund, cook's cabin has found other administrative uses. Countless program directors have used it for an out of the way HQ. Some years, it was where the male resident camp staff bunked. It has served as a dressing room for actors presenting programs at Garfield.

There IS a road that goes right down to Cook's Cabin, although at the time of this writing it is covered with a thick growth of jewelweed. Think of the space in front of Garfield Hall as a 4-way cross road. Standing on Garfield porch looking straight out over the lake, the main camp road goes up the steep hill at a sharp left. It continues down toward your right over the the low bridge. Positioned on your left, but heading straight in front of you. is the path up to Fernwood and the Lower Lake trail. Cook's cabin road heads out behind you from the right.
