Richfield Heritage Preserve
formerly Crowell Hilaka, is Ohio's Hidden Treasure. 336 acres of winding streams, lakes, and wooded uplands, it was farmed by the pioneer Oviatt family and then became the estate of inventor Jim Kirby. During the 1920s Kirby constructed a patented lake, a mill to generate electric power, a house air-conditioned with spring water, and a dance hall built on springs. Upstream, the Neal family built their fairy tale houses and operated a thriving fruit farm. The land was purchased by the Cleveland Girl Scouts in 1937 and enclosed for the protection of the girls. In 2015, the property was purchased by the citizens of Richfield. It is being transformed into a park for public enjoyment.
Richfield Heritage Preserve is open to the public every day, 7 am - 7 pm.
No admission charge.
The main entrance is at 4374 Broadview Rd,
just south of the Richfield Giant Eagle.
The Preserve is administered by the Park Board :

COZY UP TO WINTER WONDERS schedule
We need Christmas Cookie Bakers - our annual fundraiser is moving to Gund Hall this year as part of "Cozy Up to Winter Wonders". More info here
Saturday Nov 17. Anyone interested in helping out with a variety of cleaning tasks in the park, please meet at the Pack Out building at 9 am. Tasks will be weather-dependent. Please bring work gloves. ( see flier below)
Forestry. On-going removal of invasive plants. April-June the focus is on garlic mustard - an edible herb that is pulled by hand. July - November we concentrate on barberry. The work is considerably more challenging, but allows us to delve into remote areas of unparalleled beauty. The volunteers of this crew are fondly known as "Barberrians". Barberry removal requires preparation and sign off on the instructions which are here. Contact Lynn Richardson for more info email@example.com 440-667-3367
