ON GOING PROJECTS ON SITE
These are still in negotiation with the RJRD.
- A formal trail maintenance plan is "on hold" until major work by the Ohio Operating Engineers is done.
- taking care of historic gardens.
- removal of invasive and restoration of native plant species
- fence walkers
- Trail guides.
The RJRD board also maintains a separate list of volunteers and offers frequent work days to accomplish various tasks. Sign up at www.rjrd.org
FoCH has received permission from the RJRD to begin restoration of Kirby's Mill ( August 24, 2015). We are bringing in specialists in various aspects of historic preservation. Once we set up a detailed restoration plan that meets the approval of the RJRD board, we will begin a serious fund-raising campaign.
We are looking for creative ideas for acknowledging donors to the project: engraved bricks, components marked with donor's names or somehow dedicated in honor of donors, a donors' wall, naming rights have all been done in different locations. We're looking at these options but would also like to consider new, never-been-done ideas.
" INDEPENDENT STUDY"
An anytime, anywhere approach for independent-minded promoters of the property. Familiarize yourself with some of the trails and maybe a little of the history, then invite your friends and family for a walk at Crowell Hilaka. The best form of "advertising" is word of mouth from a trusted source. You don't have to be an expert. If you have read this far, you are qualified to get a friend interested. Just do it.
FoCH ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory coordinator. We need someone whose job is to keep track of FoCH's display materials. They do not have to keep it at their house, just keep track of where it is. Our display materials do a lot of traveling, they need a manger who can learn and understand their schedule.
Advisory Panel Active FoCH volunteers may be invited to join the Advisory Panel which is an informal, online group which discusses issues related to Crowell Hilaka and gets the ball rolling on many of FoCH"s projects.
Board of Directors like other incorporated nonprofit organization, the board is responsible for the legal and financial integrity of Friends of Crowell Hilaka. It is strongly recommended that prospective board members spend a year on the Advisory Panel to familiarize themselves with FoCH work style. Roughly one third of the board is elected annually by the membership.
Officers per our bylaws, candidates for office must be board members.
